Returning to your last Custom View not the Default View

When using one of your custom views (not your default view) and you click into a Sales Order to look at the details, then you want to go back to the list you were just looking at, to look at another sales order, the view goes back to your default, not the last view you were just in. So this works well if you mostly work in your default view. But if you are changing your views for different purposes (what it was created for!) You have to go back and choose the view you want to look at, each time you come back to the Sales Order Screen. Is it possible to just go back to the last custom view you were in (not default)and if you want to change your view you can, rather than having to change it every time!

The same thing happens if you are searching using the 'global search'. Open one item up, and then you need to re-type your search. Makes it very hard when you are looking for something, but not sure where it is.
My suggestion was going to be having a 'snapshot' view. where when you click on the magnifying button, it opens up the order/search term, in a separate tab, on the same page, as a snapshot view. Once you confirm it is what you want to edit, then you can open it fully. For example, Xero allows this as a split/screen under some features (see attached image).
I suppose another way to achieve this would be to have the ability to right click and 'open link in another tab', as most websites allow.
